Manasamitra, based in Dewsbury, are reputed for projects that combine world music with mindfulness. Their current project in the community confirms to the same beliefs. They are in the process of bringing their creative Teahouses Project to a few venues across Dewsbury. This will include a short workshop which will explore tea ceremonies across the world and the daily rituals of brewing and drinking tea, sharing stories and swapping tales relating to “tea” experiences, exploring tea as a social brew, and creating art work as part of the discussion.
The workshops will culminate in a creative “tea installation” with groups in Dewsbury coming together with the general public to celebrate tea rituals, to hear, smell and taste tea. This soundscape of music and conversation, created from the workshops will provide an aural focus to the event. These are free events and a lovely opportunity to relax and share time with old friends and new. The project is funded by Near Neighbours and supported by a number of local and international artists.
