Come and share your food stories with RASOI!

What food reminds you of home? Who taught you to make your favourite dish? Is there a recipe, ingredient or smell that takes you straight back to a person or place?

RASOI, a project by Manasamitra, is bringing people together across Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield to explore the stories, memories and heritage held within South Asian food.

Our free, friendly and accessible creative workshops are open to everyone. You don’t need to be a cook or have any creative experience — just bring your curiosity and your food stories!

Through creative prompts, conversation and making, we’ll explore recipes, ingredients, smells and tastes, and how food helps us keep memories, traditions and heritage alive. You might share a recipe, discover a new story, write something, make something, listen, talk, or simply enjoy spending time with others.

Some of the recipes and stories gathered through the project will feature in a new creative recipe book and digital archive, celebrating South Asian food heritage as something living and evolving, shared from generation to generation. All recipes included in the collection will be vegetarian, and we can’t wait to read them.
